Kelsey Nixon

Ah, celebrity chefs! You get some good ones and others who you turn the channel over to avoid.

I hadn't heard of this young lady but she comes across as quite endearing.

With Autumn knocking loudly on the door, here is a clip of her knocking up a tasty looking vegetable soup.

Florence Cathedral

I once saw a documentary about how a cathedral was built. Fascinating and also shocking at how many people lost their life.
Still, always a thing of beauty and Florence Cathedral is no exception.

Musicfest Canada

I love Canada and had a fantastic holiday there this year.

I never knew that this competition festival even existed, it seems as good a reason as any to return.

Here is a You Tube clip of a jolly entry by 'The Sir William Mulock Secondary School Concert Band'

Legend of the Nighthawk by Swearingen

Enjoy!

1979 Little League World Series

I love baseball, it would probably be the sport I chose if I was told I could only ever watch one sport.

So tactical, so theatrical and this Little League game was a good standard.

Enjoy this Youtube clip  Little league

Arthur Thrall

Seems to be my week for artists.

A lot more modern this time, Arthur Thrall died last year and there is an exhibition of his work in America later this year.

I had a look at some of his work, this one amused me.

Redhills GFC

I love just about all sports, when I watch them on TV, I seem to 'get' them fairly on and can have a knowledgeable discussion on the sport.
Gaelic football is an exception, I just can't get a handle on it.
On drawing this as my random Wikipedia article of the day, I looked up the Redhills GFC website and didn't even understand the score of recent matches.
So my mission to to watch an entire game and see if I can crack this tough nut of a sport.
Couldn't find a video for Redhills GFC in action so here is a general video of some great plays.

Whitney Biennial

A biennale exhibition of contemporary American art.

I'd never heard of this so checked out their website.

Pretty much what you'd expect, some stunning work, some colourful, some modern, some most unusual, some, plain bizarre. Very interesting to view.

Here's  a picture of one of my favourites.

As Monty Python once said, "I may not know much about art, but I know what I like."

Check out the website, tweet your favourite @YT40

Throne of blood

The first movie that's come up. I love old movies and watch a couple each week. Never seen this Japanese movie based on Macbeth.
Brilliant production and well acted. Worth seeing for the ending alone.
I found it available online. Give it a try.

Stella Matutina

This was a Jesuit school that operated from 1651 although it shut for some lengthy periods.

Now houses over 400 students of music and great to see such a fabulous building still regularly used.

Interesting Wikepedia article that is worth a read.

WHMC-FM

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for local radio as I used to do a live sports report for one near where I lived.
When holidaying in Canada once, I discovered The Bear on the car radio and caarried on listening to it on my return home for many months.
This is a radio stationed based in Conway, South Carolina.
It seems to do current affairs rather than music, I tuned in online and listened to a debate on the proposed alcohol policy at Stanford University.
Interesting but I'm more of a music station man.

Now that's what I call music 28

I have to say, this one made me smile. In the UK, who under the age of about 55, hasn't owned a Now album/CD.
The format is simple, a double album, side/disc 1 has many of the latest hits including a few number ones, the second side/disc has a load of songs that you've never heard of, however closely you follow the charts.
After careful consideration, my favourite track on Now28 is 'Don't turn around by Ace of Base.

The video is a bit dull, but great tune. Enjoy it here Don't turn around

So google Now28 and decide your favourite, I'd love to hear what it is. Tweet me @YT40

Evelyne Elien

A French 400 metres runner who I confess to not being familiar with. I found a Youtube video of her in a 4 * 400 metres relay from the 1990 Eurupean championships.
Fascinating to see how tactics have changed, runners went so hard from the baton change and found themselves running on empty.
Also interesting to see East & West Germany as different nations.
A link to the race is below and it's a good contest.
Evelyne Elien ran a solid leg without being spectacular.
Enjoy!
